The Hong Kong Reading Ability Screening Test for Preschool Children (RAST-K)

A set of screening tools specially made for preschool educators. It helps teachers identify preschool children at risk of reading difficulties and provide appropriate interventions to them. The test has two levels: K2 children need to take a Chinese reading test, while K3 children will be tested Chinese reading, digit rapid naming, and differentiation between real and pseudo/non characters.
This screening test comes with a CD of test demonstration and marking.
The Hong Kong Learning Behaviour Checklist for Preschool Children (Parent Version)

This Checklist aims at helping parents identify children who have potential specific learning difficulties as early as possible. It fosters the collaboration between parents and educators in providing appropriate support to children with potential specific learning difficulties, so as to help the children master the skills of learning characters and ameliorate the severity of their learning difficulties. The Checklist is in CD format, and comprises of a behaviour checklist, intervention suggestions, and user manual.
The Hong Kong Behaviour Checklist of Specific Learning Difficulties in Reading and Writing for Primary School Students (Second Edition) Manual (BCL-P(II))

This Checklist is the updated version of ‘The Hong Kong Specific Learning Difficulties Behavior Checklist, for Primary One Pupils’ and it is applicable for students from primary one to primary four. There are two main sessions in this Behaviour Checklist:
- ‘Language’: examines students’ performance in reading, handwriting, and dictation and writing.
- ‘Cognition and others’: examines students’ language competence, memory and concentration.
This updated version has a much shorter behaviour checklist which is more user-friendly to teachers. Teachers can also make use of the adaptative test available in this website.

This Checklist aims at helping secondary school teachers to screen out junior secondary school students who may have dyslexia so that they can receive intervention as early as possible. It has detailed description of the development and usage of the Behaviour Checklist, and assess students’ performance collectively on 3 domains: Chinese reading competence, Chinese handwriting competence, and Chinese writing competence.
The Hong Kong Reading and Writing Behaviour Checklist for Adults (Manual)

This Checklist provides a preliminary screening test for adults who have concerns over their reading, writing and cognitive abilities. The Checklist has six domains in assessing the adult’s performance: reading comprehension, writing, verbal expression, organisation skills, memory and mathematical literacy.
